Archaeological Evidence

What the Ground Remembers

Stones, seals, scrolls and inscriptions dug out of the ancient Near East — each one set beside the biblical passage it touches, with a plain statement of what it shows and what it does not.

A word about honesty: Archaeology can show that a person existed, that a place stood where the text says it stood, or that a custom or title is described accurately. It cannot prove matters of faith — that God acted, that a prayer was heard, that a miracle occurred. We say clearly, for every find, where the evidence stops; and where scholars genuinely disagree, we say that too.
