Micah 7 — Who Is a God Like Unto Thee?
Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits. The good man is perished out of the earth. Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide. Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise. As in the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

When I fall, I shall arise. Defeat is not final for the people of God. The fall is temporary; the rising is the next move.
The Lord shall be a light. In the dark He is the light. Not external illumination — unto me, personally.
A doxology built on God's pardon. He delighteth in mercy. The pleasure He takes in pardoning is the engine of the gospel.
A check on every reading of God as reluctant forgiver. He delights in showing mercy; the cross is the proof.
Cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. The most graphic forgiveness image in Scripture. The sea swallows; the sins are unrecoverable.
Subdue our iniquities. Not just forgive but tame. Forgiveness reaches the act; subduing reaches the impulse.
Verse 18's question is the right one to ask in worship. Who is a God like unto thee? No other religion or system has a god who delights in mercy. Worship the One who does.
The God who casts sins into the sea's depths does so through Christ's cross. The pardoning, subduing, sea-casting God Micah praises is the God whose Son made the pardoning possible.
When friends fail and family betrays (vv.5-6), the prophet looks up. The verse is the cure for misplaced trust.
My God will hear me. Personal confidence. The relationship survives the social collapse.
