Scripture text

All Scripture quotations are from the King James Version (KJV), also called the Authorized Version. The KJV is in the public domain in most of the world. In the United Kingdom, the text is held under Crown copyright and reprinted by permission of the Crown's patentee, Cambridge University Press. Outside the UK, the text is freely usable, and we use it accordingly.

Annotations

The verse-by-verse annotations, chapter summaries, outlines, key-doctrine notes, applications, and Christ-connection sections are original work written for this site. They were composed freshly from the Scripture itself and from the general stream of public-domain Christian theological knowledge — including the writings of figures such as Matthew Henry, Jamieson, Fausset, Brown, Spurgeon, Calvin, and the notes of the 1599 Geneva Bible, together with classical Greek and Hebrew lexical reference works in the public domain.

The annotations are not modeled on, paraphrased from, or matched point-for-point with any contemporary copyrighted commentary, study Bible, or annotated reference Bible. We claim no association with any branded study-Bible work.

History, missions & archaeology content

The story retellings, missionary biographies, missions-history entries, and archaeology summaries are original prose written for this site. Where a modern, in-copyright book was consulted for facts, dates, or events, only the underlying facts were used — history and facts are not anyone's property — and every summary was written from scratch in our own words. We do not reproduce passages from those books. Direct quotations, where they appear, are short (a single sentence or less), clearly attributed, and drawn wherever possible from public-domain authors. Historical figures whose works are in the public domain (for example Augustine, Spurgeon, Bunyan, Newton, Sadhu Sundar Singh, Pandita Ramabai) may be quoted more freely; living or recently-published authors are retold, not quoted.

Images

Two kinds of images appear on this site:

  • Original illustrations and portraits — the story, missions, and Bible artwork, and the figure portraits, are AI-generated images created specifically for this site using our own image-generation account. They are used as our own artwork; they do not copy any identified photograph or living artist's work.
  • Archaeology photographs — photographs of artifacts and sites come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under their stated licenses (Public Domain, CC0, or Creative Commons Attribution / Attribution-ShareAlike). Each image carries its photographer credit, license, and a link back to the source file on the page where it appears.

The interactive walk's figures and walking scenes are original SVG illustrations drawn directly in code. If you believe any image here is yours and is used incorrectly, please contact us and we will credit or remove it promptly.
