Lest the tempter have tempted you. Paul's pastoral anxiety. He knew Satan targets new believers under pressure, seeking to make them abandon the faith. His concern was real and urgent.

A reminder that the tempter is active, especially against those under affliction. The pressure of persecution is one of his favorite tools — to make suffering believers conclude the faith is not worth the cost. Pastoral care guards against this.

Night and day praying exceedingly. Paul's intercession was constant and intense. Perfect that which is lacking in your faith — even a commendable faith has gaps to be filled, growth to be completed.

No believer's faith is complete in this life; there is always that which is lacking to be perfected. The healthy Christian welcomes the filling of those gaps through teaching, fellowship, and growth. Maturity is a lifelong project.
