Psalms 52 — I Am Like a Green Olive Tree In the House of God
Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs. Thou lovest evil more than good. God shall likewise destroy thee for ever. The righteous also shall see, and fear. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
“But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.”
— Psalm 52:8
- v.1-5 The mighty boaster
- v.6-9 The green olive tree
Verse 8 trains your self-image. You are planted in God's house; the mercy keeps you green. Not because of your roots but His soil.
Christ is the One in whose house the believer is planted. The mercy that keeps the olive green flows from His finished work.

Green olive tree in the house of God. Fruitful, alive, planted where God dwells. The verse describes the believer's identity.
A contrast with v.7 — the man who trusted in riches is uprooted; the trusting one is planted forever.
