1 Corinthians 6 — Glorify God In Your Body, and In Your Spirit, Which Are God's
Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust? Know ye not that the saints shall judge the world? Set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus. All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient. The body is not for fornication, but for the Lord. Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost? Ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit.

Such were some of you. Past tense. The verse acknowledges the converts' real past and the real change in their identity.
Three verbs in present-perfect — washed, sanctified, justified. The conversion is fully accomplished; the new life is on the basis of all three.
Your body is the temple. Individual emphasis (cf. 3:16, corporate). The Spirit dwells in the believer's body.
Ye are not your own. The most counter-cultural sentence in the chapter. Modern individualism founders here. Ownership has changed hands.
Bought with a price. The cross was the transaction. The believer's body is purchased property.
Glorify God in your body. Christian holiness extends to the physical. The body is not a peripheral concern; it is a chief site of worship.
Verse 19 reframes the body. Yours is the Spirit's temple, and you are not your own. Apply this to every bodily decision — diet, sexuality, exercise, sleep, dress. The body is not the trivial outer; it is the temple of the indwelling God.
Christ is the buying price. The whole chapter's sexual ethics, body theology, and Christian identity rest on what He paid. Bought with a price — His blood. Glorify God in the body He purchased.
A radical instruction. Better to suffer wrong than to drag a brother into pagan courts. Christian witness is at stake when believers sue believers.
The verse does not forbid all use of courts; it forbids using them against the church. The brother is to be reasoned with privately and ecclesiastically.
