Revelation 7 — These Are They Which Came Out of Great Tribulation
Four angels hold back the winds. An angel from the east seals the servants of God in their foreheads — 144,000 from the tribes of Israel. Then a great multitude no man could number, of all nations, kindreds, people, tongues, before the throne and the Lamb, in white robes, with palms — Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. One of the elders explains — these came out of great tribulation; they have washed their robes white in the blood of the Lamb. They serve Him day and night; He shall lead them unto living fountains of waters; God shall wipe away all tears.

Washed... in the blood of the Lamb. The paradox of Revelation — blood that cleans, not stains. Christ's blood whitens what no human washing could.
Came out of great tribulation. The path to the throne ran through trouble. The robes were washed during the trouble; the standing in heaven is the trouble's endpoint, not its denial.
The Lamb is also the Shepherd. The One who was slain leads His own to living water. The Shepherd is the Lamb; the Lamb is the Shepherd.
God shall wipe away all tears. The same promise that ends in 21:4. Heaven's comfort is personal — God's own hand. Every category of grief named and finally undone.
Verse 14 is the deepest comfort for the tribulation you are in. They came through; they are now before the throne; the path led there. Whatever tribulation Christ has given you, He has given you the robe and the blood. Keep washing; keep walking.
Christ is both Lamb and Shepherd here. The blood He shed is the soap; the throne He shares is the destination; the leading is His personal work. The chapter is the great multitude's arrival home — and the Saviour's welcome.
A great multitude, which no man could number. The redeemed are vast — the church of every age and every continent gathered. Abraham's promise of stars too many to count finds its fulfillment.
All nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues. The four-fold universality. The gospel that began in a Jerusalem upper room has gathered every people.
