Psalms 55 — Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord
Give ear to my prayer, O God. Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. For it was not an enemy that reproached me; but it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
— Psalm 55:22
- v.1-8 The longing to flee
- v.9-15 The friend's betrayal
- v.16-23 Cast thy burden
Verse 22 is the daily action. Throw the burden; do not carry what He has offered to bear.
Christ's yoke is easy (Matthew 11:30). The burden cast on the Father lands at the foot of the cross.

Cast. The verb is forceful — throw. Do not gradually transfer; throw it on Him.
Sustain. Not remove necessarily; sustain through. The burden may stay; the bearing is His.
