Psalms 97 — The Lord Reigneth; Let the Earth Rejoice
The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Clouds and darkness are round about him. Righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. The hills melted like wax. Confounded be all they that serve graven images. Light is sown for the righteous. Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
“The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.”
— Psalm 97:1
- v.1-6 The Lord reigns
- v.7-12 Light sown for the righteous
Light is sown. The seed of light is planted; it will sprout. The image is patient hope.
A perspective for the dark season. The light is already sown; the harvest is on its way.
Verse 11 is the patient hope. Whatever your dark season, light is sown. The seed is in the ground; the harvest comes.
Christ is the light of the world (John 8:12). The light sown for the righteous has His name.

Ye that love the Lord, hate evil. Love and hate paired. To love Him is to hate what He hates.
A check on sentimental love. Real love produces moral discrimination.
