Baptist Missionary Society
Ward gave Serampore its press. A printer by trade who turned from his craft to the ministry, he was the colleague who could take Carey's translations and actually put them onto paper in quantity. Without his workshop the mission's flood of Scripture and literature would have stayed in manuscript; with it, the Serampore name spread across India in print.
He was the mission's set of working hands at the press — the one who turned other men's words on a page into thousands of pages other people could hold.
