Romans 14 — Every One of Us Shall Give Account of Himself to God
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye. One believeth that he may eat all things; another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not. Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? One man esteemeth one day above another; another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. None of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. We shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. The kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Every one of us... of himself. The personal accountability. Not for your brother; for yourself.
The verse defuses judgmentalism. Your business at the judgment seat is your own account. Spend your energy preparing it, not other people's.
A corrective to debates over secondary matters. The kingdom is not about food; it is about righteousness, peace, joy.
Where Christians fight over the third-rate, the verse rebukes. Major on the major.
Whatsoever is not of faith is sin. A wide principle. Any act done without confidence that it pleases God is sin to the doer.
A guard for the believer's conscience. Even otherwise neutral acts become sin when done against the conscience.
Verse 12 quiets judgmental energy. The account you will give is for yourself. Stop preparing other people's defense or prosecution; prepare your own. The chapter's peace comes when each one tends to his own walk with the Lord.
Christ is the Lord to whom believers live and die in Romans 14. The judgment seat is of Christ. The chapter's teaching on disputable matters all rests on His ownership and His coming verdict. The freedom is real; the Lord is the limit.
A comprehensive identity statement. Living and dying alike are unto the Lord. The believer's every state belongs to Him.
We are the Lord's. The defining ownership. Whatever the present circumstances — they belong to Him; you belong to Him.
