Psalms 100 — Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord, All Ye Lands
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
— Psalm 100:4-5
- v.1-2 Make a joyful noise
- v.3 Know that the Lord he is God
- v.4-5 Enter with thanksgiving
Three attributes — good, merciful, true. Each one durable forever.
A pattern for thanksgiving. Speak these three back to Him.
Verse 4 patterns your entrance into worship. Come with thanksgiving... with praise. The mood you enter shapes what you find.
The Shepherd of the sheep is Christ (John 10:11). The pasture the psalm describes is His.

Not we ourselves. The verse cures self-made-man theology. He made us.
We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Identity by belonging, not by achievement.
