Daniel 7 — One Like the Son of Man Came With the Clouds of Heaven
In the first year of Belshazzar Daniel had a dream. Four great beasts came up from the sea. The Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow. The judgment was set, and the books were opened. I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away. The saints of the most High shall take the kingdom.

Son of man. The title Christ chose for Himself. He cited Daniel 7 at His trial (Matthew 26:64), claiming this vision's identity.
Came with the clouds of heaven. The verse the Lord will fulfill at His second coming (Matthew 24:30, Revelation 1:7).
All people, nations, and languages, should serve him. The global reach of the kingdom. Every people group will bow.
Everlasting dominion. The four empires of the chapter rise and fall; this dominion does not.
Verses 13-14 anchor your hope in current world events. The empires that look permanent will pass; the kingdom of the Son of Man will not. Live as a citizen of the everlasting one.
Daniel 7 is the Old Testament's clearest enthronement-of-Christ vision. The Son of Man receives the kingdom from the Ancient of Days. Every cloud-coming prophecy in the New Testament traces back here.
The Ancient of days. A title for God emphasizing His pre-existence. The aged eternal One who outlasts every empire.
The throne and fire imagery anticipate Revelation 1:14, where the same figures describe Christ. The Father and Son share the throne.
