Psalms 5 — My Voice Shalt Thou Hear In the Morning
Give ear to my words, O Lord. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight. But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy. Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth. Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice.

Three commands of joy. Rejoice, shout, be joyful. The believer is to make noise about God.
Thou defendest them. The joy rests on the Lord's defense. He is the shield; the believer is the protected.
Verse 3 reorders your morning. Speak to God before email, before news, before others. Direct your prayer; look up; the rest of the day finds its place.
Christ rose early to pray (Mark 1:35). The psalmist's discipline is His habit. The believer follows both.
In the morning... in the morning. The repetition stresses the priority. The day starts with God, not after.
Will look up. The arrow of prayer is aimed; the answer expected. Prayer is not throwing words into the air.
