Psalms 68 — A Father of the Fatherless, a Judge of the Widows
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered. A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. God setteth the solitary in families. Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men. Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits. The Lord gave the word.

Quoted by Paul in Ephesians 4:8 about Christ's ascension. The verse anticipates the Spirit's gifts to the church.
That the Lord God might dwell among them. The aim of the ascension — divine indwelling of His people.
Daily loadeth us with benefits. The verb implies piling on. Each day arrives with another load.
A discipline against ingratitude. Look for the daily benefits; they are there waiting to be noticed.
Verse 19 is the daily lens. Count today's benefits before bed. He loaded them in; do not let them go unnoticed.
Christ ascended; the Spirit was given (Acts 2:33). Verse 18 is the gospel's pattern.
Father of the fatherless. God's self-identification with the vulnerable. The orphan has a Father in heaven.
A consolation for the parentless and a charge to the church. He is their Father; we are His instruments.
