Psalms 31 — Into Thine Hand I Commit My Spirit
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed. Bow down thine ear to me. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind. Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee. Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Be of good courage. A command, not a feeling. The heart's strengthening follows the obedient courage.
A verse for the discouraged. Take courage; the strengthening follows.
Verse 5 should be carried into your dying day. Christ prayed it; Stephen prayed it; you can too. Pray it nightly as a small foretaste.
Christ's last word came from this psalm. The whole chapter's confidence in the God of truth was His final confession.
Christ's last word from the cross (Luke 23:46). Jesus took David's prayer as His own dying breath.
A model for every Christian death. The believer says these words at the end; some have said them before they died.
