Hosea 4 — My People Are Destroyed for Lack of Knowledge
There is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out. The land shall mourn. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee. They eat up the sin of my people. Like people, like priest. They have left off to take heed to the Lord. Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

A devastating sentence. When a heart welds itself to idols and refuses correction, God's judgment is to let him alone.
A warning against final hardness. Let him alone is the worst verdict in the chapter.
Verse 6 charges you with what you have access to. The Bible in your hand is the knowledge you might be rejecting. Open it; read it; be shaped by it. Lack of knowledge is unforgivable in the age of the printed Word.
Christ is the wisdom of God, the knowledge that saves (1 Corinthians 1:24). The chapter's diagnosis of lack-of-knowledge is healed in Him who reveals the Father.
Lack of knowledge. Not because they could not learn but because they rejected knowledge. Ignorance was chosen.
A warning for any age of accessible Scripture. Where the Bible is plentiful and ignored, the destruction is self-inflicted.
