Psalms 98 — O Sing Unto the Lord a New Song; For He Hath Done Marvellous Things
O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. The Lord hath made known his salvation. He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth. Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world.
“O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.”
— Psalm 98:1
- v.1-3 Marvellous things done
- v.4-9 Sing, all the earth
Verse 1 invites a new song. Whatever song you have been singing, the chapter asks for a fresh one. New mercies have arrived; new music can too.
Christ's right hand and holy arm got the victory at the cross and empty tomb. The new song is to Him.

New song. New mercies call for new songs. The believer is not stuck on yesterday's repertoire.
His right hand, and his holy arm. The victory is His, by His own strength.
