Psalms 2 — Kiss the Son, Lest He Be Angry
Why do the heathen rage? The kings of the earth set themselves against the Lord, and against his anointed. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh. I will declare the decree: Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry... Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Quoted three times in the New Testament about Christ (Acts 13:33; Hebrews 1:5; 5:5). The psalm's Son is the Father's appointed King.
The decree precedes the conflict. Before the nations rage, the Son is already enthroned.
Kiss the Son. Render homage. The verse calls every king to humble allegiance.
Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. The psalm of judgment ends in a beatitude. Trust is the way of safety.
Verse 12 hands you the verb — kiss the Son. Render allegiance now, before the rage is silenced by His verdict. Trust now; be among the blessed.
Psalm 2 is one of the New Testament's most-quoted royal psalms about Christ. He is the Son, the King, the One to be kissed in submission.
The throne is unshaken by the world's rebellions. God's laughter is not amused but sovereign.
