Psalms 78 — We Will Not Hide Them From Their Children
I will open my mouth in a parable. That which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord. For he established a testimony in Jacob. They might set their hope in God. Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God. But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not. He chose David also his servant.

God's patience through Israel's long rebellion. Many a time turned he his anger away.
A perspective on God's historical mercy. The verse is hope for any who fear they have exhausted His patience.
Verse 4 is the generational charge. Tell your children, grandchildren, neighbors' children. Do not assume; show.
The praises of the Lord in v.4 culminate in Christ. Every generation's teaching trains toward Him.
The discipline of generational teaching. The faith is passed by deliberate telling.
A check on assumed transmission. Without intentional showing, the next generation does not know.
