Psalms 36 — In Thy Light Shall We See Light
The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. He flattereth himself. Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house. In thy light shall we see light.
“For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.”
— Psalm 36:9
- v.1-4 The wicked's self-flattery
- v.5-9 God's lovingkindness
- v.10-12 Continue thy lovingkindness
The fountain of life. God is the source, not a derived supply. Life flows from Him.
In thy light shall we see light. The light by which we see the truth is His. Without it, we are blind.
Verse 9 settles your search. Whatever you do not understand, the light to see it by is His. Pray for His light before you struggle to see by your own.
Christ is the light in whom we see light (John 8:12). The fountain of life has His name.

The shadow of thy wings. Maternal imagery again. The believer hides in the safety the Lord provides.
A perspective for the anxious. The covered chick under the hen knows nothing of the storm above.
