Psalms 27 — The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

One thing. The disciplined heart wants one main thing. The psalmist names his — God's presence.
A self-test. If asked to name your one thing, what would you say? The chapter trains the answer.
The doubled command. Wait... wait, I say, on the Lord. The repetition is for emphasis under the pressure of impatience.
Courage and waiting paired. The verse refuses the choice — the courageous wait.
Verse 14 trains the discipline of waiting. The doubled command warns — you will need to remind yourself. Wait, I say, on the Lord. Speak it to your impatient soul.
Christ is the light of the world (John 8:12). The psalmist's light has a Person's name.
Three titles — light, salvation, strength. Each followed by a fear-defeating question.
A verse to memorize for anxious days. Speak it out loud when fear rises.
