The freshwater lake at the heart of Jesus's Galilean ministry — where he called fishermen to follow him, taught from a boat, and where the Gospels set the stilling of the storm and the walking on the water. Its shores ring with the towns of that ministry (Capernaum, Bethsaida, Magdala, Tiberias). In 1986 a drought exposed a genuine first-century fishing boat in the mud near Ginosar — the 'Galilee Boat' — of exactly the kind the Gospels describe.

What it does not proveThe miracles set on the lake (the calmed storm, walking on water) are narratives archaeology cannot confirm; the boat is of the right era, not demonstrably one Jesus used.
