Skeptics have sometimes claimed Nazareth did not exist in Jesus's day. The ground says otherwise. Beneath and around the town, archaeologists have found the remains of a small first-century farming village — rock-cut houses, storage pits, tombs, and agricultural terraces, reconstructed today at the Nazareth Village farm — together with the Church of the Annunciation, raised over dwellings venerated early. It was a modest place, easy to overlook ('Can anything good come from Nazareth?'), but it was certainly there.
