The ridge rising directly east of the Temple Mount, across the Kidron Valley — a fixed, unmistakable place in the Passion-week geography. From it Jesus made the Palm Sunday descent and gave the Olivet discourse; Acts sets the Ascension here. Its slopes carry churches marking the memories (Dominus Flevit, Pater Noster, the Ascension) and the vast ancient Jewish cemetery.

What the evidence confirmsThe Mount of Olives is a real, fixed ridge whose position relative to the Temple anchors much of the Gospel account of Jesus's last week.
What it does not proveThe specific shrines (the exact place of the Ascension, of the weeping over the city) are traditional markers, not archaeologically pinpointed spots.
