One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth, and the road to it was where Saul the persecutor was struck blind and converted. The Roman 'Straight Street' (Via Recta) still runs through the old city, and traditional sites mark the house of Ananias and the window in the wall through which Paul was let down in a basket.
