Psalms 26 — Examine Me, O Lord, and Prove Me
Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord. Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes. I have not sat with vain persons. I have hated the congregation of evil doers. I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar. Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

A love that distinguishes the believer. The house of the Lord is precious because it is where His honour dwells.
A test for your own affection. Do you love God's house, or merely attend?
Verse 2 is a brave prayer. Pray it tonight. Welcome His examination of your motives. The clean conscience can; the troubled one needs to.
Christ's zeal for His Father's house consumed Him (John 2:17). The psalmist's love is fulfilled in Him.
A bold prayer. Most fear examination; the psalmist invites it. The believer with a clean conscience welcomes scrutiny.
Try my reins and my heart. The inner motives, not just the outer acts. Few people open the inner life for inspection.
