Psalms 25 — Shew Me Thy Ways, O Lord
Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. The meek will he guide in judgment. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him. Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord.
“Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”
— Psalm 25:4-5
- v.1-7 Lifting up the soul
- v.8-15 The Lord teaches
- v.16-22 Prayer for deliverance
The secret of the Lord. Reserved for those who fear Him. There is intimacy with God that casual religion does not access.
A motive for reverent walking. The fear of the Lord opens doors irreverence cannot.
Verse 4 trains your prayer for decisions. Stop asking for what you want; ask Him to show, teach, lead. The shaped will receives the guidance.
Christ is the way, the truth, the life (John 14:6). The psalm's plea for paths and truth finds its answer in Him.

A simple prayer for guidance. Three words — show, teach, lead (v.5). The teachable heart receives.
A pattern for decision-making. Begin with this prayer; the way often clears as the heart submits.
