Hosea 10 — Sow to Yourselves in Righteousness, Reap in Mercy
Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself. According to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars. Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty. Samaria is cut off as the foam upon the water. Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity.
“Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”
— Hosea 10:12
- v.1-8 The empty vine
- v.9-15 Sow righteousness; reap mercy
Verse 12 is your task this week. Identify the fallow ground — the hardened areas of your life where nothing is growing for God. Plow it. Sow righteousness. The rain comes after the labor.
Christ rains righteousness on the hearts that seek Him (Isaiah 45:8). The chapter's preparation is for His coming with grace.

Break up your fallow ground. The hard, untilled heart must be plowed before the seed of righteousness goes in.
Till he come and rain righteousness. God supplies the rain when the ground is prepared. The disciplines of seeking position us for His arrival.
